I feel intense desire to dominate
unruly nature of wild tangled plants
to organize stones in surrounding wall
and arrange fruit trees in spiraling rows
because all my ancestors who survived well
through taming wilderness to paradise
attended education of their children
who applied learned lessons to manage state
of lush productive gardens with quick hands,
and so expanded empire of our wealth.

Those people who applied creative vision
to better operate productive farms
that feed larger population of hands
engendered wiser children of their genes
more capable of strict disciplined work
and so they reproduced with more success
than those who could not compete quite as well
and so they colonized the entire globe
with more efficient methods of production
so all their visions sparkle in my mind.

Now far beyond our old ways we must grow,
transforming the small farm where families work
which dominated Earth ten thousand years
into communal agribusiness companies
that organize well-trained professionals
instead of undocumented migrant workers
who each perform process of food production
to extract biomass from fertile soil,
process rich food in sterile packages,
and distribute it to clean grocery stores.

Since we have now conquered the fascist threat
in this second world war for liberty
to protect our way of democracy
we must transform our nation of small farmers
into industrial empire that creates
machines based on advanced technology
so we can protect fields of our homeland
where harvesting machines produce good wheat
allowing people to relax and live
while savoring beauty of our spinning globe.
