After the football game where their team won,
the seven men, best of friends since high school,
drink beer and talk about the latest news.
After listening to his friends debate
complicated nuance of politics,
Bob clumps his mug and glares them in the eyes.
"When I look back on the history of men
I see towns of people like bacteria
consuming each other to evolve bigger
so they form empires of huge nation-states
that fight each other to control the land.
One thousand years ago all the worst men
fighting each other in kingdoms of Europe
migrated to the lonely isle of mist
to escape the tyranny of brute kings,
and there they interbred to form new race
of mighty Anglo-Saxon warriors
who built world empire with swift sailing ships
to control commerce on most of the globe.
The excess population of that small island
sailed west across the wild Atlantic Sea
to colonize the lush lands of America
that grew ever larger three hundred years
to build our own empire after world war
which controls sea and sky for eighty years.
We overthrew the evil governments
in hundreds of states the past eighty years,
to stop communism and spread capitalism,
maintaining puppet states in our control,
then we defeated the Soviet Union,
that evil empire of oppressive tyrants
who denied freedom to individual men
to seek their fortune and better the world,
plus we demolished young Islamic state
before they could unite all desert lands
to challenge power of European peoples.
Now we must face the new Chinese Empire
hell-bent on dominating the whole world
with their system of capitalist socialism
to assimilate peoples of the world
in United Nations of their grand vision.
Will they swallow us in their superstate,
or will we swallow them in democracy?"
Laughing and shaking his head at such thoughts,
Michael leans forward with serious intent.
"We are blinded by our myopic view
that America is the greatest nation
to exist in the history of the world,
just because we now dominate the world,
but history shows that empires rise and fall,
so though we may seem at height of our power
we can be toppled by aggressive force,
weakened by our arrogant self-regard
that we are exceptional in our goodness.
We are no more good or bad in our ways
than other nations in history of power,
for though we have evolved this better system
that gives every person one equal vote,
to replace the tyranny of monarchies,
yet voting game is rigged to favor rich men
who can manipulate the system of choice
to maintain themselves in power forever.
While China is new threat to our world power
they are not evil oppressors of freedom
any more than our American empire,
for we suppress the voices of all people
who are not white males to maintain their power
controlling everyone else for their profit.
When America and China clash in war
I think neither power can defeat the other,
for I think we will merge into one state,
assimilating the best of both cultures
to transform all nations of our small globe
into more cooperative United Nations.
Thousands of years ago in lush Sumeria
conflict occurred between two groups of people,
those cults of priests who record information
using hieroglyphs developed by Egyptians,
and those cults of priests who invent new method
to record spoken language with plain letters
that signify mouth sounds instead of concepts.
Those people who used the new alphabet
prevailed to control lush lands of Sumeria
so alphabets spread to all surrounding lands,
Greece, Rome, Russia, Arabia, Europe,
and far across lands of Persia and India.
Those people who used the old ideograms
sailed as far across the world they could go
east to populate the lush lands of China
where they still use ideograms to express
concepts of things instead of sounds for words.
Alphabets of letters signify sounds
that show how to pronounce conceptual words,
while ideograms of neutral characters
signify the actual concepts of things,
referring to objects, qualities, and actions.
Therefore Chinese ideograms can connect
the words of every language of the world
in one universal system of expression.
We can use ideograms of characters
to tag the words of every different language
which would show how those concepts are the same,
so every person in every world nation
can read any work of great literature
written in any tongue mankind designs,
weaving all language systems of our world
in single paradigm of shared world view.
The language system that can best describe
complicated processes of the world
will dominate the world with power of truth,
so Chinese and English will conjugate
to evolve new hyper-language of thought
that will bind all people with one world tongue.
Though America seems to be a new nation,
we all know that the old kingdoms of Europe
from England to Russia transformed from Rome,
and America transformed from all Europe,
so I call all the nations of Europeans
with the name Anglonesia, Islands of Angels.
From the coming clash of civilizations
between empires of Anglonesia and China
new world civilization will emerge
to assimilate all nations of Earth
in global tribe of one humanity."
Shaking his head in amazed bafflement,
David drinks the last of his beer and sighs.
"Whatever happens on our spinning world
I hope I survive and maintain my way
of creative life working every day
to build a better future for my children.
The future of our world always seems frail,
ever on the edge of annihilation,
but we always wake in clear morning light
and go about the routine of our lives.
Long live humanity on this lush world!"
Cheering together, they clink their beer mugs,

of still being alive in the crazy world,
then they all drive home in the pouring rain.
