Our Fundamental Principles

When we first established our principles
of liberty and justice for all people,
free to pursue our dreams of happiness,
wise Liberty held high bright lamp of freedom
to guide us on the noble path of truth
so we achieve our manifest destiny
through our construction of complex concepts.
One all-encompassing truth about life
once guided us along the path of hope
to follow our wise leader as the king
appointed by creator of all things
to perform based on commandments of good
till we are awarded our angel wings
so we can dwell in heaven among stars.
Now we measure the teeming universe
with tools of science to perceive true nature
that reveals everything is pulsing atoms
which connect through chemical interactions
thus we are all self-replicating genes
who evolve from carbon rings in the sea,
so we must transform to superior beings.
The old hierarchy from the chain of being
that once structured social relationships
of peasants serving rulers who own land,
managed by the king appointed by God,
trembles exposed as fascist patriarchy
where white men control everybody else
through our deconstruction of specious concepts.
Our view of God reflects our politics,
once viewed as angry warlord on the hill,
then divine god who created all things,
then wise king who rules all society,
and now elected honest president
who executes laws that manage businesses
which produce food so everyone can eat.
That world view which prevailed two thousand years,
defining man as master of this planet,
designed by supernatural control freak,
disintegrates into more natural view
that we are animals composed of atoms
who fight each other to dominate space
then devour the weak and breed more descendants.
Yet greedy men who control money banks,
eager to maintain their tight grip on power,
deceive the common people of the world
that they should distrust metanarratives
by replacing small deconstructed concepts
with simple binaries on polar spectra
to divide and conquer the population.
They insist we can only occupy
one of two points on the see-saw of power,
big government versus the small taxpayer
or white people versus people of color,
so they can turn people against each other,
tricking us to fight while they maintain power
and earn profits while we work to survive.
The people who control our institutions
want to keep us uneducated slaves
who work for low wages in factories
making things so they get wealthy from sales,
but we must learn more truth about the world
to understand the power of particles
that weave neurons into web of our brains.
No single strong man with the clever slogan
can fix the problems of our growing empire
for we assimilate all into one,
one nation out of many individuals
united by our basic principles
of equal opportunity for all
who work together to help all survive.
When the strong man waving some holy book
declares nothing makes sense so follow me,
then leads army of angry optimists
to employ brute force against journalists
and deceive common people with fake news,
we will unite to block his rise to power
and assert freedom of all individuals.
Now we must reconstruct our new world view
based on our fundamental principles
that every person gets one counted vote,
that no one is above the common law,
that everyone will receive equal justice,
and each person controls their own body,
so we can unite in one family.
