Diamond Of Creation

After running along the mountain trail
for seven days, to escape gang of men
angry that he impregnated their wives,
Wulfgar slips behind cluster of large boulders
to rest and hide as they go running past.
Shrinking deeper in shadows behind rocks,
when they spread out to search through every nook,
Wulfgar stumbles backward into narrow cave,
so he crawls deep into the sunless gloom.
Heart beating as he crawls on hands and knees,
Wulfgar moves toward sudden glitter of light,
entranced by its ethereal pristine glow.
Crouching in the gloom at heart of the world,
Wulfgar touches the giant gleaming diamond
where waves of pure light spiral through his soul,
and gazes at weird vision of gold sparks
that flash with intermittent pulse of joy.
Gazing into heart of the crystal gem,
Wulfgar watches singular sphere of light
gleam forever in vast infinite void,
then flare forth from first flash of big bang
to expand into spirals of huge stars
that swirl spinning to weave spheres of hard rock
where water sloshes into surging seas.
Astonished at clear vision of creation,
Wulfgar grasps diamond with his trembling hand,
but finds it embedded deep in hard rock,
so he pulls iron bar from his tool belt
and hacks at rock till he breaks the gem loose.
Crawling back up from the dark underworld,
Wulfgar emerges from dream cave of shadows
and stands on large rock in blazing twilight.
Shouting in rage when they seem him emerge,
the gang of farmers surround his large rock,
brandishing pitchforks and spears as they shout,
and lunge forward to stab him through the heart.
Holding the diamond of creation high,
Wulfgar shouts, "I have seen with blazing fire
the birth of our universe of bright stars
that nourish countless worlds full of great gods,
exploding from singular eye of light
to flare forth from first flash of big bang
and expand into spirals of huge stars
that swirl spinning to weave spheres of hard rock
where water sloshes into surging seas,
then first mother rises from sea of dreams
to pluck fruit from the sacred tree of life,
so gaze into this jewel of perfect light
and see our world born from flame of the sun."
Sunbeams pierce the huge diamond in his hand
and spread out wide in blazing flash of light
that glows in wide enormous sphere of flames,
so the farmers, astonished at the sight,
declare he holds the pure power of the sun
in his hand, so he must be the great wizard
who created the world from words he spoke.
Proclaiming Wulfgar Phoebus in the flesh,
they carry him on palanquin they build
back down the mountain to the citadel
where huge crowd forms behind their long parade
as they carry him into the grand temple.
Sitting on the huge long-abandoned throne,
Wulfgar holds diamond of creation high
for the whole crowd to behold the large gem,
and gasp amazed at light beaming bright rays
as he recites again song of creation.
"I have seen with blazing fire," Wulfgar sings,
"the birth of our universe of bright stars
that nourish countless worlds full of great gods,
exploding from singular eye of light
to flare forth from first flash of big bang
and expand into spirals of huge stars
that swirl spinning to weave spheres of hard rock
where water sloshes into surging seas,
then first mother rises from sea of dreams
to pluck fruit from the sacred tree of life,
so gaze into this jewel of perfect light
and see our world born from flame of the sun."
Fashioning ring of gold with three tall points,
smiths fix the diamond to shine on his forehead,
then the most beautiful young girl in town
parades into the temple at sunset
and places it on his head as girls sing
hymns praising the great wizard of the light.
"I crown you Solarius, King of Light,"
the girl proclaims before the solemn crowd,
then he makes love with her on the large bed
while they all chant holy hymn of creation.
Sitting with new bride blushing on his lap,
Solarius proclaims, "Bring roast beef and wine,
and let us feast to celebrate my reign,
then let us sing and dance with joy for life."
Watching the people feats with joyous hearts,
Solarius laughs with mirth at the sight,
then kisses the girl as she eats plump grapes
while diamond of creation on his crown
flashes dancing rainbows in gold firelight.
