Music Of The Rain

Music Of The Rain

The bearded man with one eye by the oak
slides bow across strings of the violin
that vibrates rainbows far across the world
to pierce the hearts of listeners with desire
to feel the spinning world within our eyes
so we become the music of the rain.

The oldest woman in the world who sees
how stars forge elements that form our world
weaves moonlight in broad wings I use to fly
high over vast metropolitan maze
so I can map the secrets of the brain
when we become the music of the rain.

The blind angel who drives the city bus
through endless maze of doors with flashing eyes
howls like the wolf when he plays blues on stage
of the all-night bar where people drink sorrow
and dance throughout the wild apocalypse
till we become the music of the rain.

The naked emperor with devil horns,
who thinks he can control wild thunderstorms
by shouting insults at the Queen of Hearts,
falls nine days and nights from the money tower
when we elect Rapunzel President
since we become the music of the rain.

The broken-hearted clown of Alcatraz
who wanders laughing dark Manhattan streets
stops on the Brooklyn Bridge to hear harp song
when the little girl with tears in her eyes
releases red balloon to burning skies
though we become the music of the rain.

We sail the broken boat to farther shores
across the sea of restless agony
to find the pilgrims wandering in the mist
who dance to aching tunes of violins
while Buddha floats on television tube
if we become the music of the rain.

Who listens to the prophet of weird truth
when he devours the dragon-brain mushroom
and chants strange visions no faithful can see
to prophesy the coming of Star Queen
when she ascends the One-Eye Pyramid
so we become the music of the rain.

This is the end of the world we have known,
destroyed in civil war of lust for power,
but we will build new temple on the stone
cracked by light of the cosmos in the flower
blooming from the perfect melodious strain
as we become the music of the rain.
