Our Government Plays God

Because there is no God who rules the world
we humans form ourselves in working groups
and choose one person we trust to play God
who manages functions of government
to ensure equal opportunity
with liberty and justice for all people.
We design the concept of ruling God,
inventing the character of the Ruler
that we imbue with ideal qualities
as template that presents perfect behavior
which we expect our ruler to perform,
hoping the mortal embodies the ideal.
The character of God that we uphold
embodies best behavior we expect,
so the mortal whom we choose to play God
should model their behavior to match well
that ideal archetype of God we value,
or else we reject them and choose another.
God is Platonic Idea of the Ruler,
the perfect archetype of the Group Leader,
whose character we devise based on people
who ruled groups as their chiefs, kings, emperors,
and presidents for past ten million years
since we first formed groups to better survive.
We organize all rulers of the past,
recorded in myths, legends, and histories,
according to how well they played the part,
sorting each mortal king as God or Satan
based on whether they acted good or bad,
expanding or contracting the group power.
God represents the one who makes things better,
and Satan the one who makes things much worse,
so characteristics of the good leaders
we apply to the archetype of God,
while characteristics of the bad leaders
we apply to the archetype of Satan.
Because there is no God, our government
performs strict functions of social cohesion
that organize our actions in commune
of cooperation as good for all people
where the good that benefits all tribe members
is based on the good for each individual.
Each person in the group performs their role
as ruler, leader, manager, designer,
crafter, builder, farmer, worker, and cleaner,
so every function benefits all others
where creative interaction supports
production and distribution of food.
Not everyone can always perform well
fateful role assigned by the tribal leader,
some getting sick, crippled by accident,
or weakened by work without recreation,
so we take care of them while they are down
with social net held by the government.
Our government plays God for our whole tribe,
supporting roles people choose based on talent,
training each person to play role they choose,
healing people so they can work again,
providing food so everyone can eat,
and ruling for justice in case of conflict.
Some people want to cripple government
so greedy men can exploit working poor
because they want uneducated slaves,
but we must support our strong government
so every person who works will gain wealth
as reward for honest participation.
The leader of our government plays God
so they campaign to present us their plan,
allowing us to consider their worth,
then we vote to choose the one who plays God,
and they run our government for four years
in our controlled revolution of progress.
We need our government to function well,
managing course of liberty and justice
so every person plays the role they choose
in system of social cooperation
which conserves progressive ways to maintain
production and distribution of food.
