Quest For A New Eye

Nobody in the city by the sea
notices that apple trees start to grow
from the fireplace of every home in town,
sprouting from large glass television tubes.
The boy with three eyes wants another eye
so he finds the oldest woman on Earth
talking to spiders in canyon of skulls
who gives him the map to her diamond heart.
He walks along the signless road at dawn,
following the owl with wings red as blood,
till he finds the door alone in the field,
so he opens it and closes it nine times.
The owl explains geometry of truth
that grows roots like the tree in broken hearts
till he sees essence of shimmering plants,
how they are splashes from waves of sunlight.
When he opens the door the thirteenth time
the palace of shadows appears from wind,
so he walks ancient gallery of masks
to find the face his father left behind.
He wears mask of his father like a breastplate,
then climbs glass stairs spiraling up to stars
to the lone tower that points to the Pole Star,
and smiles at the faces on every stone.
The face of his mother with silver eyes
sings the curving calculus of rainbows
that prove rivalry with his younger brother
can be refereed by the next chess move.
She explains how the bishop was a priestess
who ruled her hilltop town from tower of eyes,
guarded by the knight who sired the next priestess,
and the king who found the head priestess won.
The face of his mother becomes the owl
who leads him through confusing labyrinth
of doors that lead to alternate dimensions
where he always fails in his quest for love.
Stumbling deeper into the Otherworld,
the boy with three eyes follows the moon owl
to the underground lake in giant cavern
where furred dragons discuss philosophy.
Three young girls twirling diamond-tipped scepters
leap around him wildly and chant weird spells,
but he dodges their hypnotizing eyes
and attacks the shadow with snarling mouth.
Grasping the diamond-tipped scepter of truth,
he battles arrogant demon of hate,
slashing wounds in the shadow of his fear
till light of stars bleeds through his howling eyes.
Inhaling the shadow of arrogance,
the three-eyed boy offers his fragile soul
that shatters into puzzle shards of glass,
even as he consumes horror of death.
The three singing girls with long white owl wings
assemble puzzle pieces of his soul,
converting him into mirror of eyes,
then breathe light of stars in his pulsing brain.
Waking from flashing dream of spider webs,
that shimmer waves of atoms through the void,
the boy wakes with four eyes in swirling sea
and walks to the shore of his new-born world.
Standing on the beach of his spinning planet,
the four-eyed boy gazes at flashing stars
till he perceives vast web of the White Whole
that integrates all spirits in one mind.
Walking the bridge of light beams that arcs high
over bottomless abyss of despair,
the four-eyed boy returns through mirror door
to the city by the sea of snake eggs.
Knocking on the glass door of every home,
the four-eyed boy gives new mask to each person,
and shows them how to understand their tree
who sings arcane formulas about atoms.
Playing melody of numbers on the flute,
he carved from the wing bone of the last angel,
the four-eyed boy leads them through labyrinth
of doctrines to the ring of diamond pillars.
Wearing the masks of gods he gave them all,
the people of the city by the sea
hold hands and dance in spiral of the rose
in harmony with light of the White Whole.
