Eyeless Prophet Of Lies

The honest cult leader who cares for you
will never demand your money or soul.
The children in white robes follow the leader,
chanting prayers as they bow before the statue
of the tall eyeless prophet with four hands
who talks with God every night on the moon.
The smallest boy who always walks backwards
smashes the statue with the iron hammer.
One thousand hawks fly from the broken statue
of the eyeless prophet who collects shells
and eats diamonds that fall like rain from heaven
because the Angel locks the gate at dawn.
Flash of sunlight floods the hall of glass masks
where meditating women hum weird tune.
The boy who thinks he knows the way to heaven
climbs barbed-wire fence to walk the windy field,
then teleports through flicker in the rain
to hills of Scotland where silver mist glows.
The statue of the eyeless prophet glows
in rays of sunlight streaming through his brain.
The mountain wind that spirals through my heart
blows music from the aching strings of truth
which bind the wings of angels to my back,
but I fall in abyss when trying to fly.
The eyeless prophet on the field of wind
stands staring at nothing, brain blinking why.
The ground swallows into humorous soil
the soul of every creature ever born
so their memory ghosts appear in blue rain
because I talk to them all without words.
When the economic machine collapses,
I will tend fruit orchard in my back yard.
Trees grow from the brain of the eyeless prophet
who plays flute while walking the winding road
so children follow him, dancing in rain,
on through the waste land where the thunder talks.
We paint our feelings with blood in our stories
to preserve glow of twilight at camp meeting.
One stone out of order in the Great Wall
will bring our illusions of paradise
crashing on our heads in shards of old myths
because the Messiah never returns.
Put holy scriptures of every religion
together in one epic tale of life.
Aided by the old wise man with long beard,
the young boy wields the magic talisman
to battle and defeat the control freak,
then marries the princess and reigns as king.
