To Eat Forgotten Apples

I shout the wild wind and laugh the sweet rain
and sing the sun that springs our souls as flowers
that tickle bare feet of lovers and children
who wander outside cold crumbling stone walls
of paradise to eat forgotten apples.
I clutch the taut bow and shoot the swift arrow
and sing the rain that drowns our souls in sorrow
that crushes sweet hearts of lovers and children
who huddle frightened inside high stone walls
of paradise to eat forgotten apples.
I leap the high hill and swim the deep lake
and sing the moon that glows our souls as stars
that sparkle clear eyes of lovers and children
who play chase outside gray gleaming stone walls
of paradise to eat forgotten apples.
