Day I Float Away

Day I Float Away

The day I float away into the sky
I will bequeath the toys I made to all
who solve the puzzle of the dancing crow
that hops along the winding road of dreams
and gives her feathers so children may fly
who lie dying of disease in blank white rooms.

The day I float away into the sky
I scatter apple seeds on parking lots
that sprout green twigs wriggling from cement fear
which clamps blind the spirit who longs to sing
but her wise owl flutters its broken wing
and etches tales of sorrow on my eye.

The day I float away into the sky
I tear bright pages from ten thousand books
so words fall as black snow on city streets
where angels who forgot they are angels
struggle against the hostile winds of hate,
chasing rainbows through glass doors of ambition.

The day I float away into the sky
I carve new masks of archetypal gods
for children to play in their social game
before they graduate and find strict jobs
to perform rituals of daily routine
that maintain the balance of light and dark.

The day I float away into the sky
I turn the channel on the glowing screen
to watch another episode from life
detailing strange history of human kind
because talking monkeys discovered fire
and now wield nuclear bombs that could blast death.

The day I float away into the sky
I design new language and alphabet
that best expresses clear ontology
of natural being inherent in all objects
composed of atoms swirling through the void
inside my brain where galaxies glow bright.

The day I float away into the sky
I assemble bicycles, cars, and planes,
so we can zoom faster on stream of time
that spirals interactions of quick atoms
which dance in chemical structures of light
beaming from the cells of organic souls.

The day I float away into the sky
I play chess with Death on the beach of time
to win eternal life for human kind
but we always lose that game, for our atoms
pulsing with life dissolve back into dust
though we consume gold apples of the sun.

The day I float away into the sky
I gaze down on the bridge of sprawling town
where people walk through mist of hopeful dreams
to win wealth and fame in the game of life
but they give up and dance to rocking beat
when the crucified clown ascends to heaven.

The day I float away into the sky
I reach my hand into the vast abyss
and dance with Lucy among diamond stars
who takes me riding on her river boat
past tangerine trees in marmalade skies
where angels gather singing on the shore.

The day I float away into the sky
I snag the beating wing of Earendel
who shows me landscape of all Middle-Earth
where people travel far on fertile shores
of sparkling rivers that gush from my eyes
when I sing hymns at midnight to dead gods.

The day I float away into the sky
I build stone tower on the hill of flowers
to hide my children safe from roving gangs
who kidnap wandering souls with iron chains
and force them to slave in underworld mines
in search for diamonds where stars glitter truth.

The day I float away into the sky
I write long song about the wars we fought
to free people from chains of greed and lust
and teach them how to read letters in words
that flash visions of individual freedom
in minds of men who fight for liberty.

The day I float away into the sky
on brass saucer under hot air balloon
I lead the wandering tribes of Israel
with pillar of fire by night through waste land
to conquer paradise with sharpened swords
and rule all nations from tall tower of stone.

The day I float away into the sky
I preach to deaf people in doorless church
that God is persona of ideal king
who cares about all the people he rules
and guides each person on their path of growth
so they create crafts he can sell for gold.

The day I float away into the sky
I see wise girl I admire and respect
who teaches me how to read runes of dreams
that conjure visions when I recite spells
so ghosts of people flash before my eyes
and then I blink and see real grove of trees.

The day I float away into the sky
I clutch the book of stories I composed,
recording names and deeds of every person
who ever walked the spinning globe of Earth,
for atoms that once shimmered in their bodies
shimmer now in the neurons of my brain.

The day I float away into the sky
I eat the world like a chocolate cookie
and mold statues of people from wet clay
who stand in abandoned temple of gods
where thirsty people drink from pool of songs,
then sing at twilight in the ring of stones.
