Vanished From Your Heart © Surazeus 2025 01 10 "We may lose old memories of good times but we can build new strong relationships." Ingrid takes loaves of sweet cake from the oven and sets them on the counter of her heart. Paul pauses outside her bakery shop and wonders why she seems familiar. "Though Paul seems to have forgotten the time we spent last summer fishing on the lake and picking pears to bake pies in the cottage, my heart has almost mended from the loss." When she catches him gazing at her face, he turns away and hurries back to class. "Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will emerge as ugly demons of rage and despair." Concentrating on words of Doctor Freud, Paul writes notes to record essential code describing secrets for how the brain works. Ingrid spreads icing on loaves of sweet cake, then sets them in displays as customers request delicious desserts wrapped in paper. Once they are all gone Paul steps in the store. "Excuse me, miss, but I have seen your face among white pear tree blossoms in my dreams." Tears well up in her eyes as Ingrid smiles. "I wondered when you would remember me, Paul Ziebarth, who studies psychology. We spent last summer fishing on the lake and baking pear pies in your private cottage. You left to buy wine but never returned." Paul stares in her eyes and feels cool lake breeze ruffling hazy veil of lost memories. "I remember you found me by the well but I cannot remember who you are." Head buzzing with sudden terrible pain, Paul faints but Ingrid grasps him in her arms. Caressing his face nestled in her lap, Ingrid brightens when he opens his eyes. "I heard when people are hit on the head they forget their name or recent events. My heart aches that I vanished from your heart, and hope you will grow to love me again." Sitting up and holding her hands with care, Paul beams with joy at beating of his heart. "I lost two years when I fell from the wagon. Each time I see your face glowing with light I feel intense passion of secret love. Though I forgot you, I will always love you." Strolling together on the avenue, Paul and Ingrid enjoy the shopping scene of people bustling with activity, then sit together by the Neptune fountain after viewing statues of gods and heroes that gleam in sunlight in the Schoenbrunn Garden. Paul gazes in her eyes with happiness. "Though I lost our sweet summer by the lake, I have fallen in love with you again." Ingrid kisses him and sighs with delight. "We may lose old memories of good times but we can build new strong relationships."
