rational cities of commerce in gloom, 
Bod dances on the windy beach of sorrow 
and shakes holy tambourine of true faith 
to call up angels from our broken hearts 
till pain disappears in smoke rings of time. 

When the sad-eyed lady of the waste land 
finds Bob singing at locked gate of her heart, 
she welcomes him to garden of dead gods 
and gives him apple cider of true faith 
to soothe the aching sorrow he still feels 
at death of millions in far distant lands. 

When the Jokerman visits Cafe Why 
with guitar Mercury designed from skulls, 
Bob gambles with the Devil of Despair 
to win from his hand the key of true faith 
which opens every house door in the world 
where his shadow haunts the blind with calm hope. 

When he drives truck down Desolation Row 
to find Cinderella sweeping the floor, 
Bob takes her dancing on the Rainbow Bridge 
where Lucy in the sky with diamonds sings 
heart-breaking ballad of abandonment 
that wakes her from agony of false hope. 

When the ghost of electricity howls 
in crystal bones of Lady Liberty, 
Bob finds his sad Muse weeping by the lake, 
so he walks on water during the storm 
to rescue Angel Gabriel from death 
who teaches him how to write magic spells. 

When the Messenger with the Holy Book 
chants obscure prophecies of world events, 
Bob enters Cave of Illusions to find 
Diamond Eye of true faith that once shone bright 
on flat-top pyramid where Ishtar reigned, 
yet follows Ariadne to the end. 

When he codes answer blowing in the wind 
with haughty satire of the rolling stone, 
Bob stands on head of Ozymandias 
to free Sisyphus from clock of true faith 
so they can expel greedy Vampire King 
from the Oval Office of our White House. 

When he unlocks Gates of Eden with flair, 
and chats with Melusine by Tree of Knowledge, 
Bob hands laurel wreath Apollo gave him 
to Texas Jester with quill of true faith 
who takes mask of his face with snarky grin 
and hangs it in the ancient gallery.
