Each dawn when she forgets why the train cries 
she places her heart in the velvet box 
and walks along the avenue of lies 
to eat sandwiches with the lonely fox, 
then they play chess and talk about way 
demons like it when doubting humans pray. 

Wearing elegant pink skirt suit and scarf, 
Bethany stands gracefully at the green screen 
and talks about the weather coming soon 
with cheerful smile and twinkle in her eye, 
then calls up her lonely fox on the phone 
to talk about what she saw in the stone. 

Though some people see her as a cute joke, 
she always acts with professional grace, 
striding gracefully as she wears fur cloak 
with delicate gloves of pink silk and lace, 
and treats other people with gentle care 
while ignoring the men who always stare. 

Invoking her status as the best catch, 
Bethany teaches children how to read 
which defies the common character sketch 
according to the law her fox decreed, 
yet everyone secretly adores how 
she smiles in her commercial with the cow. 

Every morning when she chats with the oak, 
though elves keep falling off the Rainbow Bridge, 
she hides her wedding ring in the cracked rock 
in harmony with how light on the ridge 
highlights code of her special character 
as humble granddaughter of Jupiter. 

When the wildfire burning city of gods 
rushes toward her mansion in blaze of hope, 
Bethany gathers her cats, mice, and toads 
in two carriers, then climbs the steep slope, 
but weeps in shock to watch her paradise 
consumed with memories that have no price. 

Returning to her home reduced to ash, 
she finds the cracked stone glowing with star light, 
so she throws her childhood dreams in the trash 
and spreads swan wings to ascend in sad flight 
beyond bleak sorrows of this transient life 
which frees her heart from bitterness of strife. 

Finding photos in ruins of her home, 
Bethany remembers why the train cries, 
then decides now is the time she will roam 
without duty of wealth under blue skies, 
till her agent sends her new movie script 
where she plays an angel whose wings get clipped.
