Duty As Cosmic Herald

Duty As Cosmic Herald

The chemical flow of life spirals on
day by day to compose eternities
that shimmer weird when I wake each new dawn
to measure our progress through centuries
that narrate our evolution from atoms
with mythological dramas in axioms.

For silver mist of midwinter spotlights
unspoken sorrow of the faceless souls
who live all around me in mute streetlights
programmed by hunger to perform their roles
designed by unspoken concept of fate
exercised behind the heavenly gate.

Rain-wet leaves pungent from orange ruefulness
squish under my shoes with arrogant hope
that trees will sprout again with fruitfulness
through another season we try to cope
while stumbling on the road of life at random
till we are too old to act based on wisdom.

As long as I keep waking from weird dream
I rise from grave of nothingness to walk
among apple trees blooming by gold stream
to sit alone on the Salvador Rock
and gaze with wonder at our shining world
to evade my duty as cosmic herald.

The invisible dome of our world view,
constructed from stories everyone knows,
crumbles around us in time to renew
global energy through religious shows
where priests hypnotize our minds with sweet lies
till social rebellion of mental spies.

The Weeping Jester with ten thousand mouths
breaks open locked doors of doctrinal truth
to expose all sacred beliefs as myths
through revelation of messiah sleuth
who leads us stumbling up three steps to Heaven
at eerie riddles of the Laughing Raven.

Six emperors of global superstates
play board game of Surrounding the House
in political bid to control the Fates
and generate children with loyal spouse
because Blind Princess in the Ivory Tower
rejects exercise of absolute power.

Awakened by lightning strike in my brain
that resurrects my spirit from despair,
I wander vast cities of Earth in rain
with Lamp of Hope that glimmers faint with care
because I will not try and save the world
to embrace my duty as cosmic herald.
