Under His Watchful Eye © Surazeus 2025 01 01 Staring at pyramid with the one eye printed on the back of the dollar bill, Allen ponders what the symbol could mean, as if some person with authority stands on high platform above wheated plain and watches all that happens in the world. Imagining tall man in long white robe who holds brass spear with diamond on its tip, Allen pictures himself, wearing gold crown shaped round with spikes like sharp jaws of the shark, watching people at work in fields below who keep busy under his watchful eye. Shepherds herd sheep from meadows in wood pens, gardeners tend vegetables, herbs, and fruit trees, farmers tend fields of wheat, lentils, and barley, craftsmen build wagons, boats, buckets, and fences, cooks prepare meals for everyone to eat, and soldiers with spears guard perimeters. Paying for gas that fuels engine of his van with the credit card for his bank account, Allen drives with hundreds of vehicles in broad avenue past tall office buildings as he returns to work at the state bank after eating spaghetti at the bistro. While riding elevator with small crowd of chatty women returning from lunch, Allen pictures temples on pyramids transforming into castles where kings ruled, which morphed into towers of steel and glass where bankers are now kings who rule the world. Once the man watching on the pyramid with great shining eye of authority, skilled at judging cases to settle disputes, convinced the people working in the fields that he was god descended from the sky with divine commission to rule their lives. Striding past his desk in the open room with photo of his family and his boat beside his computer and telephone, Allen enters large office of his boss who sits like high priest at his large oak desk, and bows like obedient angel with pride. How like angels ruling Heaven we are, Allen grins while gazing out the large window at farm fields stretching beyond city blocks, accepts folder for the new store account, then enters data to analyze profit at his desk while the city hums with life.

Orpheus peers through diamond while standing on the pyramid and wonders if workers in the fields see a giant eye always watching to make sure they are not lazy.
