"I fell in love with the cute viper girl
whose kiss is deadly with poison of love,"
Camulus confesses to his blind mother,
"so I will crown her queen of my domain,
beautiful Litavis with earth-green eyes,"
but Divona frowns and snatches his wrist.

"Her father Britannius killed your father
when they fought for crown of Litavia,
so you should seek revenge against her clan
instead of crowning her mother of ours,
thus I will kill her if you marry her
for she will bring calamity to us."

Gasping in shock at her cruel bitter words,
Camulus hurries outside the stone tower
and stares at water sparkling in sunlight
to ask his heart with passionate respect
how to solve this dilemma which confounds
moral laws that govern how we behave.

Dancing gracefully on lush river shore,
long black hair gleaming slick as raven wings,
Litavis sings sweet melody of faith
expressing joy at loving trust they share,
then holds his hands so together they twirl
around the sacred apple tree of truth.

Appearing from shadow of the oak grove,
young man with long gold hair and silver eyes
catches Litavis in his grasping arms,
but she pulls away and frowns as he grins,
"I am Vindonnus, grandson of Belenus,
himself grandson of the sun god Apollo."

"If you will be my bride and bear our son,
I will crown you Queen of Illyria,
for I am heir to crown Belenus wears,"
but Litavis laughs at his boastful claim,
then plucks ripe apple from the Eris Tree
and saunters away with haughty disdain.

Running with desperate hope from his tower,
Camulus holds her hands with intense smile,
and declares, "You are holy queen of my heart,
the brightest soul of knowledge in our land,
so I will cherish you with words and deeds,
helping you achieve vision of your heart."

Just as she reaches to caress his cheek
and declare mutual affection they share,
Vindonnus stabs her lover in the back,
then slings her over his shoulder and smirks
as he attempts to lock her in his cage,
but she stabs his neck so he bleeds to death.

Cradling wounded Camulus in her arms,
after wrapping cloth tight around his chest
to bind the wound she smears with yarrow paste,
Litavis whispers, "you are my true sun
shining brightly as beacon in the dark
that guides me safe on dangerous road of life."

When Camulus heals from traitorous wound,
he leads his people to crown of lush hill
where he declares, "As son of Romulus
I will found new city on this high hill
named Camelot to serve as shining light
that spreads justice and freedom in the land."

"Though your father honest Britannius
killed my father to rule Litavia,"
Camulus proclaims at their wedding rites,
"our marriage nullifies conflicting claims
as we unite opposing clans as one
to strengthen our hearts with courage of love."

Placing crown of rubies and emeralds
on head of Litavis with gentle grace,
Camulus presents her as new world Queen
who will reign with justice and liberty,
then they drink wine to begin the grand feast
while Orpheus plays lyre of Mercury.

  1. Orpheus plays lyre of Mercury and sings epithalamium to celebrate the marriage of Camulus and Litavis as the new royal couple of Litavia.
