Brain Without Jingling Keys

Brain Without Jingling Keys

Though we have lived on Earth for many years,
slow butterflies who listen to our songs
give us strange but beautiful things we need,
so we build power plants in naked woods
to calculate why some people gain fame
and others disappear without their name.

When he returns home with seventeen eyes
that see faceless ghosts no one else can see,
he stands on stage with book of withered leaves
at the general conference meeting of angels
and preaches salvation of polished mirrors
that swallow airplanes into swirling clouds.

Ten million apple trees of arrogance
grow down the middle of ten thousand roads,
because the ballerina without wings
transforms into glass television swan
so we forget the mental genocide
that happens in ever-vanishing lands.

Delirious with conceptual faith in God,
the oldest woman in the world explains
how turtles represent the human soul
with charcoal mouth that wants to kiss the sky
while outside window of the doorless house
we search for shards of our world view in grass.

Disinfected brain without jingling keys
drifts over country meadow of cracked skulls
above sun-freckled farmer of the mind
who cleans the dirty window of contempt
to fertilize the land with rancid lies
too loyal to the king who never dies.

Inside the empty framework of world truth
we play our roles in theater of fear
to worship with excessive honesty
Blind Locksmith born in lush strawberry field
despite his old man stealing eyes of cats
to prove he plays piano without skill.

Seen drifting slow along metallic paths,
made wild by pure indifference of time,
she asks the shepherd why angels must die,
but he teaches her formulas of math
for calculating effect of fake prayers
before she buys redemption from the skull.

Spurred elements of agonizing now
retrieve true meaning of life from weird spells
children chant inside garden walls of fear
because they must leave everything behind
when they ride the orphan train to Utah
where faith is bound in tight semantic knots.

  1. Orpheus pays the Blind Locksmith for keys to open the gates of paradise so he can take control of the Holy Land with the plastic exploding inevitable.
