Searching for lost souls in junk-littered lot
beside abandoned radio factory,
I find feathers from wings of fallen angels
that vibrate with ambitions of the proud,
so I weave them into wings for myself
which helps me fly above world maze of myths.

Gazing down below through wisps of cold clouds
that billow from snow-jagged mountain range,
I see idols of long-abandoned gods
keeping watch with celestial jewel eyes
over descendants of their dreamless brains
who swarm in every city of the Earth.

Asking each abandoned god of mankind
secret code of their name written in stars
and tale of how they gained their superpower,
I written their stories in the Book of Gods,
for every one was once some mortal human
endowed with divine spirit of the world.

Stocking library shelves in every town
with volumes that record their noble deeds,
I read to children in the afternoon
so they know tragic comedies of fate
performed by lost gods of the human race
whose failures and successes guide our way.

Constructing castle on high jagged rock
that juts out into seething sea of faith,
I host the ghosts of those forgotten gods
at grand feast of divine apocalypse,
then afterward we hear blind Homer sing
epic tales of their lives for all to hear.

Exploring mystery of our primal being,
which emanates from our conceptual bodies,
I wear mask of each god on Wall of Fortune
so I experience passion of their souls
which urge our quest to find the Promised Land
we must create with hands of loving faith.

Analyzing how leaves of trees transform
light and rain to sweet fruit we humans eat,
I savor pleasure of each conscious brain
that has ever dreamed on this spinning globe
so all their memories stored in fairy tales
become my memory of the human race.

Organizing idols of long-dead gods,
which I recover from junk-littered lot
beside abandoned radio factory,
I display them behind glass with their names
and stories of their lives on metal plates
in our Museum of Abandoned Gods.

  1. Orpheus stands before crowd of faceless gods and speaks about the randomness of fortune at the grand opening of the Museum of Abandoned Gods.
