Because I Did Not Die Today © Surazeus 2023 07 11 Because I did not die today I go outside and stand on lawn of broken skulls to talk with burning angels in tall trees who throw apples at my ancestral ghosts. The river calls me to walk beyond hope and watch its sparkles reinvent the truth. Because I did not die today I laugh about how I see faces in the clouds as well as horses galloping on hills that follow my mother to Wonderland. The wordless book exploding in my eyes reveals that we are illusions of light. Because I did not die today I eat sacred apple I steal from smiling snake who tries to explain that math formula which calculates the distance to the sun. The apple falling from infinite blue defines strange wisdom of the changeless sea. Because I did not die to day I build houses for the homeless in sprawling maze of cities tangled in network of roads that all lead to this house where I live not. The silver chalice on the broken desk conceals unspoken sorrow of all mothers. Because I did not die today I walk the signless road my feet design from greed to visit every valley in the world where I leave my finger bones in thick mud. The apple cart waiting by the star pool interrogates the owl who never weeps. Because I did not die today I steal perplexing dreams from children without eyes who run away from graves of nameless gods to study irksome logic of the grass. The vast museum of ceramic jars imprisons marble idols of world heroes. Because I did not die today I play chess with Lucifer on the ocean shore to win electric key which opens minds exalted by obtuse theology. The telephone pole wants to fish with me because he loves the Hydra in Lake Lerna. Because I did not die today I sing cumbersome puzzles of ecstatic faith through revelation of the dragon queen who gives me water from her well to drink. The stoic clock embedded in the oak names me Cronus when I crawl from the sea.
